Automotive and Machine Repair

Collision Repair and Refinish

Average salary: $37,000 per year

Length of training: 8-12 months

Job Corps’ Collision Repair and Refinish training program provides students with the opportunity to receive hands-on training in different types of collision repair work and develop multiple skill sets. The various course offerings include nonstructural analysis and damage repair, painting and refinishing, structural analysis and damage repair, and mechanical and electrical components. A summary of the skills taught in each course and the career options available to graduates are outlined below.

Automotive and Machine Repair

Maintenance and Light Repair

Average salary: $36,000 per year

Length of training: 8-18 months

Test vehicle systems and parts, identify mechanical problems, perform basic maintenance, repair and replace parts, and interact with clients. Work on engines, transmissions, drive belts, brakes, electronic steering systems, diagnostic tools, power tools, and common hand tools.

*Maintenance and Light Repair is a Pre-Apprenticeship program, which offers students the hands-on training and education needed to qualify for apprenticeships.
